January Space Works Theme: Code & Create
This month in Space Works: A Makers Lab, we are blending programming logic with physical fabrication for our maker projects. We will explore how to integrate code with tangible builds like simple electronics and 3D printing. Join us this month to explore problem-solving through hands-on learning!
Open Lab Time: Snap Circuits Challenge
This open lab time lets teen makers get a hands-on introduction to electronics and basic circuitry using Snap Circuits kits. Tackle fun wiring challenges to complete real working circuits—like lighting a bulb, ringing a doorbell, or powering a fan—while exploring how components connect to create different electronic outcomes. This self-paced session is a great way to build confidence with basic electronic components in a safe, engaging environment. Ages: 12+. Free.
Fridays (1:30 - 4:00 pm) January 2, 9, 16, 23, 30
Saturdays (1:30 - 4:00 pm): January 3, 10, 17, 24, 31
Sundays (1:30 - 4:00 pm) January 4, 11, 18, 25
Free
Teen Maker Hour (2-hour lab): 3D Snowflake Lab
This two-hour lab combines computer block coding and 3D modeling with 3D printing technology. Teens will discover how mathematical operations can be used to create and manipulate 3D shapes. Using Tinkercad Codeblocks, we will design a custom 3D model of a snowflake, watching geometry and logic crystalize together! Your student's unique snowflake design will be exported to our 3D printer and fabricated during the class.
Fridays (10:30 am - 12:30 pm): January 2, 9, 16, 23, 30
Saturdays (10:30 am - 12:30 pm): January 3, 10, 17, 24, 31
