Traveling to and from Camp:

Redirecting.

What can I do if I show up before check-in?

Please let us know in advance, and we will be ready to welcome you at the Rocket Center. You will be given your name badge, and you can explore the museum until registration begins. We can store your luggage while you look around, and a bus will be arranged to take you to the dorm when registration begins.

If I live locally, can I go home at night and come back in the morning?

No. To be totally immersed in the program and to be a part of your team, you really need to stay in the dorms. In the evenings many teachers enjoy the networking and collaborative opportunities that are present after hours.

Why do I need to arrive the day before camp starts?

The morning starts very early, and we hit the ground running! By checking in the day before, you can get your registration materials and get settled into your dorm room. If you arrive before 5 p.m., you can bus over to the Space Camp Crew Galley for a complimentary dinner.

What if my child’s return flight is delayed or cancelled?

If your child’s outbound flight is delayed, a member of our team will continue to wait with your child until they board the flight and depart. In the event the outbound flight is cancelled, the team member will escort your child to the ticket desk to rebook the outbound flight. If an outbound flight can not be secured until the following day, your child will be escorted back to camp, and given sleeping accommodations and meals free of charge.

When will Space Camp take my child to the airport before their flight?

The Space Camp transportation team will have your child arrive at the airport two hours prior to the scheduled flight. (Example: A child on Delta flight 234 departing at 5:35 p.m. CT will arrive at the airport at 3:35 p.m. CT for the flight) A member of our team will check your child in at the ticket desk, escort them through security, and wait with them at their flights gate until they have boarded the flight and the plane is in the air.

Will my child need money for return baggage fees?

If your airline requires a checked baggage fee for the return flight, you will need to provide your child with the appropriate funds to pay for the baggage.

Where will you meet my child at the airport?

Your child will be met at the flight’s arrival gate, then escorted to baggage claim and then on to ground transportation to the Space Camp campus.

I am attending Adult Space Academy, Space Academy for Educators, or Family Camp. Is Space Camp transportation available for these programs?

Flying is a great option for our out-of-state campers! You will need to make your own travel arrangements with the airline, and we can provide transportation to Space Camp from the airport when you arrive for a fee of $25 each way per adult camper. Transportation to and from the airport for Family Camp guests is $25 per family, each way.

Will Space Camp pick up my child from the airport?

Trainees arriving for weeklong, overnight camps may be picked up at the Huntsville International Airport (HSV) for an additional fee. Space Camp and Aviation Challenge are located approximately 15 minutes from Huntsville International.

To arrange airport pick-up and drop-off, simply pay the fee and fill out your transportation form located in your camp confirmation. Round-trip airport transportation fee: $50

How do we get to and from camp?

Transportation to and from camp will be arranged by your group leader- this is the teacher who is responsible for booking your camp and serves as the point of contact with the Space Camp Group Coordinator.
