Matthew Dahl, the 6-year-old son of Marine Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) and Mrs. Michael Dahl, was killed by a hit-and-run driver as he rode his bicycle on May 28, 2011, just 3 days after his birthday. Matthew enjoyed going to school to learn about stars and moons, rock formations, and numbers. Most of all, he loved watching airplanes & helicopters fly by, and rockets shoot into the sky. In memory of Matthew, and with the support of his parents, the Semper Fi Community Task Force has established this scholarship for Aviation Challenge. It is intended to give military-connected children the opportunity to have an extraordinary experience which brings together the worlds of service, science, and learning.
