Space Camp

Smithsonian Journeys, the world-wide travel program of the Smithsonian Institution, is pleased to be working with the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, a Smithsonian Affiliate Museum, to offer Adult and Family Space Camp to our members.

Family Programs

Family Camp is the perfect weekend for adventurous families. Parents and children, ages seven and up, launch into a mission to space or aerial combat scenario in our authentic training simulators!

Check-In: Friday, 11 a.m. — 1 p.m. Graduation:
Three-Day — Sunday 11 a.m.
Four-Day — Monday 11 a.m.

Family Space Camp® encompasses simulated mission training and operations, rocket construction and on-site space history in one of the world’s largest spacecraft collections. All trainees experience astronaut training simulators such as the 1/6th gravity chair and the manned maneuvering unit.

Include grandparents or other extended family members in this out-of-this-world experience!

Meals and lodging are included in all of our family camp programs. Lodging is on-site in our Habitat facilities, and meals are on-site in the Space Camp Crew Galley. An extended four-day family program is offered on selected holiday weekends.


Adult Space Academy

Always wanted to be an astronaut but were too old for Space Camp®? Adult Space Academy® is an adventurous, two-night experience allowing trainees to assume roles in hands-on, interactive space missions and learn what it’s like to train as an astronaut.

Graduation: Sunday, 11 a.m.

This weekend program includes model rocket construction and launch (weather permitting), training on our astronaut simulators, including the 1/6th gravity chair and Multi-Axis Trainer, plus hands-on spaceflight history education amid one of the world’s largest spaceflight collections.

Adult Space Academy is the ultimate experience for anyone who has dreamed of life in the cosmos or the excitement of a vital role in mission control.

Sessions for Adult Space Academy are limited, so reserve early. Meals and lodging are included. Lodging is on-site in our Habitat facilities with meals in the Space Camp Crew Galley.
