Friend of Space Camp® - Jim Allan:
Jim is the Accessibility Coordinator and Webmaster with the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired living in Austin, Texas. Jim has been a part of the SCI-VIS (Space Camp for the Interested Visually Impaired Students) program for almost 20 years. He helps coordinate the attendance of over 200 blind and visually impaired students to Space Camp each September. Jim maintains the SCI-VIS website - www.tsbvi.edu/space and serves as the technology expert for the SCI-VIS program. Jim provided technology assistance to Space Camp's software provider to enable the Space Camp mission software to be used by blind and visually impaired students. Jim is a member of numerous national organizations and has been recognized at the state and national level for his achievements with the visually impaired community.
Former Space Camp Staff - Jerry Gleason:
Retired U.S. Army veteran and Aviation Challenge® staff member living in Madison, Alabama. Jerry is both a legend and a mentor to an entire generation of Aviation Challenge campers and staff members. He inspired many campers to follow their dreams and serve our country in military service. Jerry developed the Land Survival training as part of the Aviation Challenge program. Jerry proudly served his country for 30 years, and some of his awards and citations include: Bronze Star four times, Purple Heart three times, Meritorious Service Medal twice and the Army Achievement medal twice. Jerry continues to work on Veteran's issues and volunteers at Space Camp.
Space Camp Alumnus - Robert Pearlman:
Editor of collectSPACE living in Houston, Texas. Robert attended Space Camp six times between 1987 and 1993. He founded collectSPACE in July 1999 and over the past decade has grown it into the leading space history resource and community website. In the course of his career, he has worked for and helped lead several other space interest groups and companies,
including: The National Space Society, Space Adventures Ltd., Starport.com and Space.com. Robert has also developed and worked on numerous websites dedicated to furthering space exploration, including the award-winning Ask An Astronaut. He has worked on numerous space related education projects and continues to be an avid supporter of the space program.
