Two San Antonio teachers blasting off to space camp

Two teachers from Jack C. Jordan Middle School are headed to space camp.

Rey Dela Cruz and Tamara Barreras were selected among 250 educators from 27 countries to spend a week at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Ala.

Their week of camp includes real-life astronaut training, such as high-performance jet simulation, scenario-based space missions and water survival training.

The teachers leave for camp June 22 and will return June 28.

The Honeywell Educators at Space Academy scholarship is sponsored by Honeywell International, a fortune 100 technology and manufacturing company.
