SPACE CAMP® to offer special discounts to Redstone's military and support contractors

HUNTSVILLE, AL - The U.S. Space & Rocket Center® is proud to announce special pricing for its educational programs for Redstone Arsenal's U.S. Army personnel, both active duty and retired, along with its civil service employees and the employees of the arsenal's support contractors. This summer, they'll all quality for a special $300 discount when enrolling their children or grandchildren in SPACE CAMP® or AVIATION CHALLENGE®.

"We've wanted to do something special for our friends at the arsenal for a long time. This just seemed like the right thing to do and the right time to do it," according to Larry Capps, the Space Center's CEO. "Redstone workers laid the foundation for what this city would become. Making our programs more accessible and helping them expose their children to the wonders of math and science through our camp programs is simply our way of saying thank you," he adds.

The U.S. Space & Rocket Center, an agency of the State of Alabama, has been providing educational camp programs for 26 years. Its world-renowned SPACE CAMP program uses a space-science curriculum to stress the importance of science and math. Among their many hands-on activities, trainees prepare for and carry out a simulated space shuttle mission. AVIATION CHALLENGE focuses more on the science and physics of flight with training modeled after that of a military aviator. Camp programs are available for children aged 9 through 18 years. This special, limited time offer for current and retired NASA employees and the employees of their support contractors is based on availability and includes all tuition, room and board. Reservations must be made no later than July 18, 2008, and attended by August 22, 2008. Simply use the code "CRD8" when making your child's reservation on-line, in person or over the phone.

Last year, children from all 50 states and 57 foreign nations joined the half-million who have graduated with their SPACE CAMP wings. This year, we salute the men and women of Redstone Arsenal by making it easier for their children or grandchildren to earn their wings and reach for the stars.
