Davidson Center for Space Exploration
The Davidson Center for Space Exploration is the new front door for the U.S. Space & Rocket Center (USSRC) complex, housing the visitor ticketing area and a 350-seat auditorium, along with the Saturn V rocket. Completion of this 68,200-square-foot building is the first stage to better showcase NASA and Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) contributions to historical, current, and future space exploration. Also, within the new facility, is the Davidson Center 3D Digital Theater. Experience awesome digital clarity and spectacular sound with 3D technology. Special feature presentations may also be shown depending on schedule.

The Challlenge:
The newest exhibit at the Davidson Center is titled The Challenge in reference to Kennedy's speech challenging America to send man to the moon and return him safely to earth. This exhibit, aptly sponsored by The City of Huntsville, focuses on Huntsville's transformation during the early 1940's to 1962, from "The Watercress Capital of the World" to "The Rocket City". The exhibit will showcase early Redstone Arsenal participation, the creation of Marshall Space Flight Center, and the men and women who made it all happen. Open Febuarary 2010

On Display Now
The life size German V-2 Rocket is on display. The V-2 rocket was the first man made object capable of leaving the Earth's atmosphere and was used as the basis of the rockets of the American space program that went to the moon.
Permanent Displays
The U.S. Space & Rocket Center has one of the greatest collections of rockets and space memorabilia anywhere in the world. The journey through the museum will take you from the beginning of rocketry to today's shuttle system and beyond. In the museum collection, there are the original Mercury and Gemini capsule trainers, the Apollo 16 capsule, Casper and a full life size replica of the Apollo 11 Saturn V.
